In a world awash with ‘content’, often consumed within solo vacuums, what’s needed is simple, focused curation and a space to discuss with others what really matters about what we’ve just taken in.
Next Tuesday, we launch our Perspectiva Culture Club, and we invite everyone to join for this first edition! It will be a monthly salon-style group in which we’ll choose a single, meaningful ‘cultural artifact’ for discussion — a book, film, podcast, poetry, tv series, album, and beyond. I’ll be gently facilitating, and allowing enough room for unexpected pathways into the texts and back out again into the world. Our intention is to create a held space for intimate conversations about the full experience and meaning of what we’ve collectively read, listened to, or watched.
For our first edition, next Tuesday 31st October at 1pm UK (2pm CEST/ 9am EST) we’ll be focusing on a single poem from Emily Berry’s collection, Unexhausted Time (Faber & Faber, 2022).
Following the thread of Temporics month, we’ll sense into how the very act of reading a poem can play with our sense of time. How does that change when we read together as a group? Through small group break-out discussions, you’ll also have the opportunity to think and feel through various time-related themes within the poem: distinguishing memories from ‘ordinary moments’, the intrusion of the past into the present, and even playing with the possibility of the future influencing the past.
Practical info:
We’ll meet for around 75 minutes. Think of it as soulful and intellectual nourishment (of a non-Halloween candy variety), at the start or mid-point of your day.
You’re welcome to bring insights and connections from the previous Temporics events into discussion, but there’s no ‘prerequisite’ — all are invited to join.
Please take a moment to read the poem we’ll be discussing, ‘(My love was two pieces put together)’ before attending. If you feel moved to, you are warmly invited to support the author and buy a copy of the full collection of poetry.
If you have some extra time, you can listen to Emily Berry’s companion playlist that she created for the book.
Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Join us for the final Temporics conversation this month!
‘Lineages and Transmission’ with Jeremy Johnson, Bonnitta Roy, Ivo J. Mensch
Monday October 30th, 4pm UK (4pm CEST / 12pm EST)
In the final session Bonnitta, Jeremy and Ivo gather for a discussion of specific but relevant temporal manifestations: lineage and transmission. Are lineages, with their rootedness in the past helpful or not? Do we need to rekindle, reimagine and honor these ancient lineages, or will they keep us from growing into the new expressions of culture that we want? Maybe we should listen to the future instead.
To support our work and get access to our full programming of future events, we invite you to join the new Perspectiva Community. Learn more:
